“The Road to Saving Life” — project of the International Charitable Foundation “Step with Hope” (“Krok z Nadiieiu”) strengthens the mobile volunteer teams that connect humanitarian aid with people living in Ukraine’s most dangerous and difficult-to-reach communities. The project provides the transport, fuel, repairs, and spare parts needed to deliver food, drinking water, hygiene supplies, and medicines—and to evacuate civilians when every minute matters.
When Help Depends on the Road
War in Ukraine has left many frontline communities isolated from essential services and supplies. For people who cannot travel safely or independently, a mobile volunteer team may be their only reliable link to humanitarian assistance.
For our teams, transport is not simply a fleet of vehicles. It is the ability to bring help on time. It is the ability to reach a family cut off by damaged roads. It is the ability to evacuate someone from danger. It is the ability to save a life.
Evacuating People to Safety
As part of this project, the foundation also helps evacuate civilians from dangerous territories and active combat zones, providing transport to safer locations for people who cannot leave on their own.
The Challenge We Address
Humanitarian vehicles operate under conditions that would test any fleet: damaged roads, rough terrain, flooded or unsafe sections, restricted access, and the constant threat of shelling. Years of intensive use have also taken a heavy toll on the foundation’s vehicles.
- Many vehicles have significant mechanical wear.
- Repairs and preventive maintenance are needed continuously.
- Breakdowns can occur during active humanitarian missions.
- Some communities can be reached only by vehicles with high clearance or four-wheel drive.
Every breakdown has a human consequence: a cancelled delivery, delayed assistance, greater danger for volunteers, or a family left waiting for urgent support.
Fuel Is a Lifeline
Even a fully operational vehicle cannot move without fuel. With diesel costs placing growing pressure on humanitarian operations, monthly fuel coverage has become one of the project’s most urgent financial needs.
Every litre of fuel is another kilometre towards someone waiting for help.
Our Goal
Our goal is to build a dependable logistics system for mobile volunteer teams — one that can operate consistently, respond quickly, and continue reaching communities despite difficult terrain and wartime disruption.
- Deliver humanitarian aid on a regular basis.
- Evacuate civilians from dangerous areas.

What Is Needed Now
3 cargo/passenger vans for transporting humanitarian supplies, moving volunteer teams, and evacuating civilians. Preferred features: diesel engine, front-wheel or all-wheel drive, high ground clearance, and proven reliability.
2 four-wheel-drive vehicles for frontline missions, off-road travel, and access to remote communities where standard vehicles cannot operate safely.
Repairs and spare parts for 18 vehicles to keep the existing fleet roadworthy and reduce cancelled missions caused by mechanical failure.
5,000 litres of diesel every month to sustain regular deliveries, emergency response, and evacuation journeys.
Where We Work
Our mobile teams serve conflict-affected communities across Ukraine, with a particular focus on Dnipropetrovsk Oblast — including the Nikopol district — as well as Kharkiv, Kherson, and Donetsk oblasts. The teams also respond in other communities where humanitarian access is limited and needs are urgent.
